Seahawks podcast thursday editioni’m your host corbin smith thanks as always for making the lockdown seahawks podcast your first listen five days a Oiho with gdo all tgnigs aer plbissoe shirt week we’re nearing the finish line on our post off season position by position depth chart review we’ve talked about guards we’ve talked about tackles on the offensive line and that means maybe the most important position along the offensive line left tackle probably still takes the cake but center coming at close second this has been a position that has been in turmoil at times for the seahawks of the last five six seven years ever since max unger left justin britt ended up becoming a solid starter for a couple seasons for seattle then brit gets hurt they move on to ethan posik he couldn’t stay in the lineup and when he was healthy inconsistent play particularly in the run game had several injured reserves stints the last couple years they started kyle fuller at the beginning of last year that didn’t work out well at all particularly from a communications standpoint he loses his job back to ethan posing at mid season and oh by the way they had the chance to draft creed humphrey last year out of oklahoma who ended up having a fantastic rookie year for the kansas city chiefs they went with the eskridge instead so this has been a position that they’ve had opportunities to address and they haven’t taken advantage or the players they brought it just haven’t worked out they gave it another shot this spring bringing in austin blyth who is familiar with line coach andy dickerson as well as shane waldron blythe was a starter for three years for the rams he has started at both guard spots his last year with the rams in 2019 he started all 16 games at the pivot position he’s undersized not a big body guy. I want deshaun watson to be great and have tremendous success so we could stick it to the bakerbros. But right now it’s the league’s call there they’re going to be the ones that say we feel it’s adequate to it’s adequate to play do we have enough lawyers down here to we’re gonna get that covered I certainly don’t want to be the one to say it’s fine the game has been officially cancelled because of turf that was unplayablenobody’s nobody’s in here nobody’s in here other than no media no nothing until I say so not Kevin not David nobody okay in terms of letting people in bottom line is the game can’t be played we’re not gonna put you at risk obviously you all are uncomfortable with it as well obviously the Eagles they feel the same way let’s whatever the reason even a joking manner let’s let’s take it easy on the Eagles and the vet they’re gonna have a tough enough couple days as it is unfortunate we were looking for him to play but we understand it it’s not worth putting anybody at risk and and we’ll dial it up again some other time

This Season will Presents Who Love:
I’m not sure it’s my favorite of the bunch that were randomly thrown out there by random designersbut this one is definitely way better than the one that they’ve shown love this one for the las vegas raiders they get the las vegas feel now I think it does represent the classic raiders logo of course with that pirate and the swords in the middle I guess it’s not really a Oiho with gdo all tgnigs aer plbissoe shirt pirate. But hey it’s his first day back in pads as a part of the actual team practice and going to be a lot of catching up to do is he ever going to be 100 uh again in general probably not he’ll probably never be quite the same player I think a lot of people that suffer those injuries have gone on the record many times before to say they were never the same but they adjust they can recover they can play at a high level again seeing guys like adrian peterson lowkey be be better than they were before in some ways but then you also see the odell beckham’s guys recover from it come back on the field still be very successful you just have to adapt to your new challenge and overcome it and jk dobbins seems to have the right attitude I think marlon humphrey put it well ian rappaport won the battle but jk dobbins won the war there he is back in practice well ahead has 34 days to get ready for the new york jets and I i don’t anticipate you know again him being back to 100 and what that might entail but amazing to see him back the energy that he brings and the hope that they will have another dynamic football player and a dynamic carrier of the football that can do things in the open field many people forget jk dobbins led the nfl all running backs as a rookie in yards per carry six yards per carry I think he was one of three players uh with over 50 carries as a running back to lead the nfl and or have at least six yards for carries a rookie he was like jim brown and herschel walker or something like that if i’m not mistakenso uh he was incredible he was dynamic he forced broken and missed tackles at a really high rate he had I think like the fifth highest breakaway percentage in other words what percent of your runs go for 15 yards all of those things so having someone back into the offense they can do things with the football in their hands regardless of handoffs regardless of if he’s getting you know the ball thrown to him a little bit in space doing some of those things is very good news and hopefully means that gus edwards and marcus peters might be able to be back in a similar timeline. Yeahso. So ii’m i’m to the far left for bull on this one here. Um so it’s good to be back in indianapolis right in person I know we are very excited because the combine really marks the first time that you know we get a chance to spend kind of quality time and extended time with you know many of the draft prospects who are on our board the most important part in the process for us at the combine is to be able to visit with these players and to look them in the eye to go through our interview process with them although we have limited time we really can gain still a lot of information and the information we’re trying to gain during that time we need to know where this player is mentally at the end of 20 minutes you know and although there’s some traits that players have such as work ethic and their attitude that might bring a certain level of their mental ability above that you know over time you do get a good baseline on where they are mentally chad has done a great job over really the last three off seasons in terms of you know vetting the football ackman for the receiver prospects that are coming out of the draft what you’re going to do is you’re going to give us as much detail as you can when we start talking about the actual plays and some of that because I just want to see where you are as far as your knowledge of what you guys did yeahlike everything it’s a piece of the puzzle it’s not the end all be all um you know we’re not gonna draft the guy because of a poor interview. But I can hit a three wood straight um also speaking of that my favorite coaching hatso I got bootsy’s football practice tomorrow. It’s my first time really doing something that’s my first time like in the stadium you’re in my spot rook that’s all right though i’m gonna get next year i’m gonna get next to youoh i’ve changed up my back pedal like I used to be like this.
